Taking the magnificent Albariño grape on the road
Wines from Spain take the magnificent Albariño grape on the road this summer, with a delicious introduction to this stellar wine from the Denomination of Origin (DO) Rías Baixas region of Galicia in northwestern Spain.
Taste a number of Albariño wines from Rías Baixas
Guests will have the opportunity to taste a number of Albariño wines from Rías Baixas, the cool coastal home of the Albariño grape, located in the Celtic region of Galicia where some of Spain’s premium white wines are produced. The finest Rías Baixas wines are characterised by their intense aromas and floral notes – perfect summer wines which will be excellently paired at each event with Galician-inspired tapas.
Meet Irish Independent wine writer, Liam Campbell
Each event will be conducted by a different wine expert, with Irish Independent wine writer, Liam Campbell hosting the first evening in elegant No. 1 Pery Square, Limerick, Elizabeth Fox from GMIT hosting the evening in the funky surroundings of The Twelve Hotel, Galway, a hotel that has won the Wine Spectator Award 8 years in a row, and Irish Examiner wine writer, Leslie Williams hosting the final evening in the highly-regarded off-licence, Green Man Wines in Terenure, Dublin 6.
The three experts will introduce guests to seven different Rías Baixas wines each evening including the bright, juicy and citrusy flavours of a Señorio de Cruces, the floral aromas and superb citrus freshness of the Mar de Frades and a Terra De Asorei with citrus notes of grapefruit and lemon, just a small selection of what will be on offer.
